Inaugural PILOT Innovation Challenge Winners make a splash at the NAB Futures event

The National Association of Broadcasters awarded $45,000 to the three winning ideas discovered by their first ever competition, the PILOT Innovation Challenge.

  • First Place - First Place went to Robinne Burrell for “In Your Shoes,” a vitual reality series that uses VR to capture unique stories from intimate perspectives.  (Check out her recent profile in Forbes here!)
  • Second Place - Building off the excitement around last year’s smash hit from Niantic and Nintendo, Pokémon GO, second place winner, “History GO” was pitched as a chance to experience the history around you using augmented reality.
  • Third Place - Third place went to Chandra Clark for her digital recording service “The News Call” (i.e. Tivo for news junkies).

The competition will be back in 2017 and sporting even bigger prize amounts thanks to support from the Knight Foundation.
