Congratulations to the 2018 Female Founders in Tech finalists!

As one of more than 100 judges for the 2018 Female Founders in InsurTech competition, it was a privilege to review numerous qualified applicants, and learn about exciting and inventive concepts to reshape the insurance industry. I join with three colleagues from CSAA Insurance Group who also served as judges to congratulate the finalists: Adapt Ready, Dreyev, FloodMapp, Tapoly and Vivametrica.

With a higher purpose, insurance helps rebuild lives following loss and allows families and businesses to continue to function and thrive. It was inspiring to see so many startups eager to improve the way insurance helps those in need. The industry must continue to adapt to serve the evolving needs and expectations of our customers.

CSAA Insurance Group has done just that, offering AAA-branded personal lines insurance through AAA clubs in 23 states and the District of Columbia. Founded in 1914 as a disruptive response to the high price of auto insurance, we have a longstanding commitment to new ideas, and welcome the new generation of insurance disruptors.

We are proud to partner with Female Founders in Tech (FFiT) which plays an important role in identifying disruptive ideas and solutions – including some that may further our mission to create AAA members for life by fulfilling our promise to be there when they need us. In addition, being inclusive is one of our values, reflecting our belief that the best innovations reflect the diversity of the markets they serve. Having diverse voices at the table is not only the right thing to do, it results in better decisions and more innovation, and is critical to effectively serving customers and their evolving needs.

In fact, recent research shows that companies with more inclusive cultures are:

  • 6X more likely to be innovative

  • 6X more likely to be agile

  • 3X more likely to be high performing

  • 2X more likely to meet or exceed financial targets

Again, congratulations to this year’s finalists. From this select group will emerge this year’s FFiT InsurTech winner, and a new idea that may well hold tremendous potential for insurance and the customers we serve.

Please also join me in honoring all FFiT nominees, past and present, whose diverse voices and commitments to entrepreneurship inspire each of us to think beyond traditional boundaries, and consider new solutions for success.

The 2018 Female Founders in InsurTech finalists will pitch live on Monday, Oct. 1 at InsureTech Connect. The event is open to anyone attending the conference, just RSVP here. The competition will be judged by industry experts from Farmers Insurance, CSAA, Liberty Mutual, RGAX, and InsureTech Connect, this event is a great opportunity to network with innovative professionals from all areas of insurance.
