CSAA Insurance Group through its venture arm, Avanta Ventures, and RGAX are returning sponsors to Quesnay’s 2019 Female Founders in InsurTech global innovation competition. The competition is now live and accepting applications through July 22.
Female Founders in InsurTech 2019, the fourth global startup competition in the Female Founders in Tech (FFiT) series, is seeking applications from women-led startups with market-ready solutions that address key technology opportunities in the insurance industry today. Five finalists will once again have the opportunity to pitch their solutions to judges from the insurance industry at InsureTech Connect (ITC), the world’s largest insurtech event, on September 23 in Las Vegas.
“We are thrilled to partner again with insurance industry thought leaders, CSAA Insurance Group and RGAX, who are actively supporting inclusion while driving innovation in partnership with insurtechs,” said Jennifer Byrne, Co-Founder and President of Quesnay. “Additionally, for the second year in a row, we have joined forces with InsureTech Connect, where our female founder finalists will be given the opportunity to present to and meet insurance industry executives from around the globe.”
The program will expand its reach this year to target a broader group of applicants - representing a range of solutions and going beyond the 20 countries reached in 2018. After submissions close on July 22, over 100 industry experts will evaluate the applications based on impact on the insurance industry, type of problem being solved, and differentiation in the market. Finalists will be announced in late August and then take part in a month-long mentorship phase leading up to their final presentations at the final pitch event at ITC.
Thanks to additional members within the insurtech ecosystem, all applicants, finalists, and winners will have access to a growing number of prizes, mentorship, and support - valued at over $75,000. Quesnay has partnered with Boost Insurance, Commerce VC, Ellevest, Google Cloud for Startups, Innovation Women, QBE Ventures, and Upward Hartford to provide complimentary access to co-working space, 1-on-1 mentorship with industry experts, an insurance fundamentals webinar, regulatory and compliance education, and coaching on topics ranging from financial and legal planning to fundraising tips.
New to this year’s program, a “people’s choice winner” will be selected by the audience at the final pitch event. This winner will be awarded a spot in the innovation showcase during ITC. All of Quesnay’s community members - applicants, judges, mentors, advocates - can attend the final pitch event and ITC at a special rate.
In an effort to add additional value to competition applicants and the growing Female Founders in Tech community, Quesnay stays engaged with participants after each competition.
“Through our recently launched ‘Quesnay Connect’ online community and our local events, we will continue to provide participants in Female Founders in InsurTech ongoing learning and development opportunities, valuable introductions as well as unique speaking opportunities and visibility among investors,“ said Byrne.
